Last week I received a message in Whatsapp “Hey Klass, you coming to Michael McDermott this Friday afternoon?”. Normally I work on Fridays, but this particular Friday I just happened to have the day of os yeah, sure I’ll come and see Michael McDermott.
Last Friday I received a text requesting me to come to the instore gig in Vanderveen. Bobby Long was going to play a few songs promoting his new album and the upcoming gigs. As it was a nice stop in between my way to the train station for an event later that afternoon I stopped by the store.
While I was enjoying the Vanessa Peters concert in the Groninger Museum on Friday evening, the Vanslag venue in Borger had Oh Susanna on stage. Oh well, you can’t be everywhere all the time and I was in luck as last Saturday it was international Record Store Day and Oh Susanna would play a set in my local record store, so I got to see them after all!
As every year I buy way more albums than is good for me (trust me, it’s too much). However I must admit that this year I haven’t bought that many albums that were actually released this year. I’m sure I’ll find a lot that I missed somewhere in the next year, but it has made producing a top 10 list just a bit easier. Continue reading The 10 albums of 2014
