A few shots from my ride last Saturday
The album Cycling 2017 will be udated through the year with photos from my rides (and occasionally some gear-updates).
I’ve got my set complete! New Michelin tires on the bike, a new shirt, I upgraded my helmet to the Giro Synthe (not the MIPS edition), got some new sunglasses and new shoes: the NorthWave Sonic 2 Plus. With the Garmin Edge 820 keeping score and track, I’m looking forward to a very interesting new season!
And of course on the back of my shirt my avatar: the bearded espresso sipping hipster ;)
As for the photos… I’m a bit bummed that I shot them in 1/15th, but running to and fro on cycling shoes, grabbing and parking the bike and keeping in time with shutter-release I forgot to reset them to 1/250th in the end :( Better luck next time.
I really ought to get back to shooting the X-Pro2 soon, it’s just that on sunny Sundays like yesterday the Bianchi is way more attractive then any camera could ever be. And the iPhone 6S might not be as good, it is light and as it’s used for GPS-tracking it’s also always with me. So a few more iPhone shots from the road then!
A couple more after the break:
After two weeks of rides on the Bianchi, my Achielle Sam was starting to feel neglected (and rightly so, that Bianchi is a slice of Italian heaven!) so I took the Achielle for a ‘relaxing’ ride this afternoon. That is… relaxing according to my standards!
A few more photos after the break
A small sidestep from a normal blog-post on photography, but as I often take a camera (the iPhone as a bear minimum) with me on rides and there will most likely feature a few more photos of my road bike on the site, I thought I’d introduce the new addition to my arsenal of bikes (there are 4 or them now).
Bauke Mollema is a busy guy. Fresh out of the Tour the France he raced and won the Boxmeer criterium, raced in Surhuisterveen, won the Clasica San Sebastian in Spain and then raced in Rio at the Olympics. And then he came back the the Netherlands as soon as he could to race in the Gouden Pijl criterium yesterday.
The Tour de France 2016 is over now and traditionally that means that criteriums (or crits) are being raced. As usual the first one is in Boxmeer, that was Monday immediately after the last stage of the Tour. A day later the second race was held in the north of the Netherlands: Surhuisterveen and as that was close and I finally was in a position to go, I went. It was also the only one that Chris Froome would do (that will be because of preparation of the Olympics I think).
I love cycling sports and so going to the Superprestige cyclocross in Gieten was an absolute must. I had a few other jobs to attend to too, so I only visited the final men’s run and missed the other races, but you can’t have it all.
The ‘Gouden Pijl’ cycling criterium in Emmen has been on my wish-list for a few years now (to take pictures at, not to actually ride… I’d be lapped within a lap by those pro’s). And even though it’s so close, I still managed to miss if for year in a row. But not this year! Marked the calendar and prepped the camera bag well in time.
