My time in Barcelone this last Sunday was almost at an end, but there was one more concert to see: Koko Jean & The Tonics featuring Dani Nel.lo. A terrific voice and now in combination with a great Rhythm&Blues saxophone player, that was going to have to bee good!

When I first visited my girlfriend in Barcelona in January this year, we attended a concert in Jamboree by Dani Nel.lo. As I had planned another visit to M. the past week I saw that Dani was playing again. This time in Luz de Gas and it seemed a good plan to go to another Dani Nel.lo concert as we’d both enjoyed it a lot the first time.

I’m a bit behind but working my hardest to catch up. On Pentecost – May 19th- I traveled to Raalte for the annual Ribs & Blues festival. Mainly to see Nick Waterhouse, but as ever the Sunday program of this free festival is brimming with talented blues and bluesy acts. So it’s a joy to visit it every year.

I’ve been looking forward to this edition of the R&B Night for a long long time. A bunch of fantastic names got out pretty early and the time table showed that the names were spread very nicely so there would be enough time to see just about everything I wanted and it’s a great place to see and catch up with lots of musical friends. The evening started with a few great names so I dived right in.

As broad as my musical taste is, there is on style I will always fall back on. No matter what my mood is, I love old blues. It might not have wild guitar solos, but I just love the ‘simple’ structured Delta Blues. So I was thrilled to find my request to shoot at the Keb’ Mo’ gig approved.
