Cicada Rhythm and Elliott Brood at Vanslag

Last Thursday there were no less then two concerts at the Vanslag. Canadian Elliott Brood was back for it’s fourth concert at the venue and Cicada Rhythm from America arrived for it’s first concert at the Borger church.

Ana Popovic in Vanslag

Last night Ana Popovic played to a sold out Vanslag church in Borger. It has been a bit over 11 years since I last saw Ana and a lot has happened in those years so it was high time I saw her again.

A vacation in Basque Country

Monica and I have been exchanging options and ideas for a long long time as to where to go on vacation this year and it was mostly hard to find a location where we’d both be able to fly to in a fairly decent way. That was really hard in the beginning of our search, but when we got it, al the pieces suddenly fit together seamlessly.

Koko Jean & The Tonics ft. Dani Nel.lo at Jamboree

My time in Barcelone this last Sunday was almost at an end, but there was one more concert to see: Koko Jean & The Tonics featuring Dani Nel.lo. A terrific voice and now in combination with a great Rhythm&Blues saxophone player, that was going to have to bee good!

Christopher Paul Stelling

One day after the Sven Hammond Soul gig in Groningen and an afternoon clearing out the forest near Oudemolen as a team-outing from work I was  tired, worn and also already back to the next gig. This time in Borger, back to Vanslag.

Swingin’ Groningen 2017

With a busy week I wasn’t able to do both Friday and Saturday of the Swingin’ Groningen festival, however I was by no way going to miss the whole festival and Saturday had some great names on the schedule. So after finishing my work on the Static Roots Festival, doing a ride on the Bianchi and fixing evening-dinner, I hopped in my car and drove to Groningen for more music!

Tourist in my own country

Instead of going to Barcelona again in April I had Monica over here for a few days. Weather-predictions warned for rain and cold weather and seeing that April usually has no idea what it wants, I had Monica at least prepare for some cold rainy days.

Top 10 albums of 2012

It’s always nice to look back over the past year and see what albums stood out. Even though there’s still a few albums underway, they won’t be in time to get a good enough impression of for a final list and then again… ask me again next week and the list might look different from what it looks like now. And in the end..  what’s the value of a list anyway. But they are fun, so here we go!

Take Root 15th edition 1/2

Last Saturday was the Saturday of September: the day the Take Root festival in the Oosterpoort venue in Groningen had it’s 15th edition. A bunch of names I was quite keen on seeing, a few names that I already knew and one name that would blow them all away (but more on that later).
