Autumn has started which means that as festival-season is at an end the concert season is finally starting again. My season started in Eelde of all places, in the museum De Buitenplaats with a concert by House of Cosy Cushions.
In all my years of photographing concerts I have never erroneously formatted a card and delete all my work… Until now that is and I was horrified to find out. It took me several days and a lot of work, but I finally managed to retrieve nearly all the photos and so I’m happy to finally present: House of Cosy Cusions.
Last Friday House of Cosy Cushions came to the Groninger Museum with Twilight and with Alameda and a lecture on films it was to be an eventful evening.
In 2014 I saw many concerts again. Some by band I knew and it introduced many new artists and bands to me and I loved so many of them. It’s absolutely impossible to arrange a set in a Top 10 as there were so many incredible concerts and one is simply so much different to another. But I would like, as is the custom at the end of the year, to highlight a few moments of the year.
As every year I buy way more albums than is good for me (trust me, it’s too much). However I must admit that this year I haven’t bought that many albums that were actually released this year. I’m sure I’ll find a lot that I missed somewhere in the next year, but it has made producing a top 10 list just a bit easier. Continue reading The 10 albums of 2014
Not long ago I was invited by Richard of House Of Cosy Cushions to visit his art-project (or Installation) Twijduuster, but unfortunately I already had a gig that evening in the Synagog with wishfulmusic‘s Leendert and Cast Glass. In the end this is probably as it was meant to be as I got another chance, this time in the church in Oostum.
Only a day after Hugh Cornwell’s acoustic history lesson in the punk and new wave of The Stranglers today I was back at Vanslag again for a very different kind of concert: House of Cosy Cushions were playing there this afternoon and what I know of their music it seemed a great match for the former church.
Hardly recovered from the Platosonic and Eurosonic weekend I was of to Groningen again yesterday to visit the 1 year anniversary of wishfulmusic. And how do you celebrate one year of programming lots of beautiful gigs? With more performances of course. The stage was the Groninger Museum, that I visited last year for an edition of Groninger Museum Live.
