Ending 2015 in Barcelona with Monica was a great way to celebrate the beginning of of a new year and so why not repeat it? Luckily Monica agreed, so for the last few days of 2016 and the first four of 2017 I was in Barcelona again.
Monica and I are planning a vacation to Guatemala later this year, but we can’t just let the summer pass without a vacation so we found a great destination in the south of Spain. A new location for us with loads of different architectural buildings and plazas to discover and it’s hot hot hot!
Visiting Barcelona in the coldest time of the year… Is that a good idea? Well, it’s still a lot warmer there than in Assen, so I wasn’t too worried. And flights in February were well priced too. And well… excuses aren’t really necessary for visiting my girlfriend again, are they?
Here are a few more images of my visit to Barcelona in December. I shot them on Ilford Delta 400, a bit too grainy for my taste, so I added a little bit of noice-reduction in Lightroom.
Personally I also see a little but of out-of-focus shots here and there, but that’s the reason why the Leica is currently in Will van Manen‘s care for a check-up.
A theme of 2015 has been traveling to Barcelona to visit my girlfriend M. there as often as possible and so it seemed like a great idea to end the year there as well. Having spent Christmas here in the Netherlands with the family, on December 27 I hurried off to Schiphol to visit Barcelona one more time in 2015 and end that wonderful year together with M.
Having finished my vacation in Italy, I started work with an intense training (TMAP Testing) including a grueling few weeks of studying, trying practice-exams and skipping a lot of fun events. I really wanted to visit M. (and Barcelona) after the final exam, either as a prize or to help me forget a bad result. Either way: Barcelona it was to be.
As my love had visited me in May and we’re to go on vacation in September, the end of June was a good moment for a visit to Barcelona and see M. before my colleagues vacations start in July. And so Wednesday evening on the 24th I travelled to Barcelona once more to find M. waiting for me at the airport
My wonderful girlfriend M. had a big musical surprise for me. After attending the Dani Nel.lo concert a day earlier she totally kept me in the dark of the evenings plans and even arriving at La Pedrera I had no idea of where we were going and once on the roof I still was in the dark (well, there was a drumkit and a double-bass, so Jazz was obvious, but not until m. nudged me when the musicians entered the roof of La Pedrera did I know who’d we be watching/listening to.
