Vollek! in the Vanderveen warehouse this afternoon
Autumn has started which means that as festival-season is at an end the concert season is finally starting again. My season started in Eelde of all places, in the museum De Buitenplaats with a concert by House of Cosy Cushions.
After all the hype about the Red Moon, or bloodmoon or lunar eclipse of yesterday, the moon had quite a bit of stage-fright and didn’t really want to show itself. And when if finally did, I didn’t get the clear, sharp shots I wanted.
On the other side of the horizon however the sunset was beautiful and that did give some pretty nice shots. And it was really nice in my walk looking for the moon to see lots of cars and bikes parked next to the roads and in the fields with people all looking out for that bright red moon. Sort of a shared experience…
More photos after the break…
By the light of the moon
When the night holds the secrets
Of the sleepy lagoon
I’m contemplating moonlight
On the water
When I’m walking with you
On an evening in June

A very happy 2018 to you all! May it bring love, happiness, joy, fortune, great music and lots and lots of photos :)

Last week I received a message in Whatsapp “Hey Klass, you coming to Michael McDermott this Friday afternoon?”. Normally I work on Fridays, but this particular Friday I just happened to have the day of os yeah, sure I’ll come and see Michael McDermott.
The past two weeks have been good to me with some terrific concerts and today was no different. I’ve been a fan of BRUUT! for a while now, but haven’t had the chance to actually see them live. This afternoon their tour of the new album Superjazz brought them to Simplon in Groningen.
Last weekend all of Groningen was flooded with bands, reporters and audience from all over Europe for the festival that starts the new concert-year: Eurosonic/Noorderslag. I was not there! I started the 2017 concert-year a week later with The Mastersons and Anthony D’Amato in Vera.
I learned about Bauer (not to be confused with the in the Netherlands slightly more known Frans or the American Baauer) in 2006 when they released the album ‘The Bauer Melody of 2006’, an absolutely gorgeous album recorded with the Metropole Orchestra. The fourth album of the band and for a long time… the last. Until this year that is. Ten years after that release and shortly before my vacation to Guatemala I suddenly saw a new Bauer album ‘Eyes Fully Open.
And then it turned out that the band would visit Vera in Groningen. A change I could not pass on, because you never know… maybe I’ll have to wait another ten years for another chance.
