  • Added photos of Tracy Bonham to the gallery. She played at Noorderzon yesterday, over the same pond that The Bees did last Thursday. Again a great concert and a special scenery (though again no close-ups due to the pond being there)

  • Yesterday I went to the Noorderzon festival in Groningen to see The Bees, a great band from the Isle of Wight playing with a mixture of 1960's pop, reggae, funk and what not. Lovely band and the stage they were playing at was over a pond. Great sight, but hell on photography. I was miles away and found it very hard to keep the band in focus. All things considered I'm pretty happy with the results, wanna see? Check the gallery

  • The TT Circuit of Assen wanted to try and see if it would be possible to organize concerts on the circuit. After it got the necessary papers it got an act... and what an act. 'Run for the Hills' 'cause Iron Maiden's here! A fantastic day, weather was great and Iron Maiden was awewome. They played many if not all of the hits and the crowd was ecstatic. Personally I believe it to be a success in every way. Iron Maiden photos can of course be seen in the gallery
  • There were three support acts for the Maiden gig, Lauren Harris & band started the event, followed by Kamelot and then the pre-main act Within Temptation. However, good as they were... there's only one Iron Maiden ;-) All the supporting acts have now also been uploaded tot the site

  • Since the John Mayall gig last early last month, it's been a bit quiet as there were no gigs in the area. But as of yesterday the brand new gig season was opened. Kicking of were the Drive-By Truckers and what an amazing gig that was. No need to worry about the gaping hole Jason Isbell left in the band when he went solo, it's been patched seamlessly by the former bandmember and pedal-steel guitarist John Neff and bassplayer Shonna Tucker taking over on the vocal duties. Taking down the pace a bit and adding a bit more Country, it was a fantastic gig. Photos are online in the gallery
  • This afternoon I received the required permissions to shoot Iron Maiden this Saturday at the TT mororcircuit in Assen. They couldn't possibly make it easier for me, as I live in Assen.

  • I was dead-certain I was going to buy myself a new camera today: the Canon EOS 1D mkIII, having had the camera in my hands this morning in the store it absolutely felt like the right thing to do. I read everything there was to read on the camera the past few weeks, and it's really feels like the right kind of upgrade for me now, but I chickened out at the last moment, what with al the rumours that are surfacing concerning the much rumoured new 5D. So I'll have to try and constrain myself for two to three weeks till (then) hopefully more is known. I do however still hope that I'll then still want the 1D (not in the last place as the new 5D will take some time before it's available)
  • Concerning concerts; the next one will be this Wedsnesday when the Dive-By Truckers will play at Vera. I'm hoping for better and more (if any) decent lights in that venue this season, would make it a lot nicer to work with

  • In the gallery you can now find photos of the John Mayall & The Bluesbreakers concert held in the Lantaarn venue in Hellendoorn yesterday. At nearly 75 years John still rocks! Great gig.

  • A fantastic gig by Xavier Rudd in the Oosterpoort this evening. Truly a gifted multi-instrumentalist. The light was a bit too red, but I think I managed. Take a look at the photos in the gallery.
  • Photos of opening act Dearhunter have also been processed and can also be viewed in the gallery now.

  • Due to the cancellation of the Fields of Rock festival a mini-Metal-festival was held in the IJsselhallen in Zwolle on June 22 with a great line up. Airbourne opened, followed by Iced Earth, Cavalera Conspicary played after them but the headliner was without a doubt Judas Priest and they easily outdid all the other bands. All photo sets have been processed and can be viewed in the gallery.

  • Even though the Netherlands were playing their last soccer-game before the quarter finals, the Oosterpoort venue still was packed for the Beth Hart concert. Opened by Dutch singer Wies at half past nine, around half past ten Beth and band took to the stage and performed sublimely. In the gallery you can see the photos
  • On a sadder note, it was announced today that the Gothic Metal Palace festival has been cancelled. With only 700 tickets sold for a two day event, it was decided to cancel (the quarter finals this Saturday will not help ticket sales either). A sad result for a years work for the organization

  • The first edition of the Jazz Vibes jazz festival in Hoogeveen last night was fantastic: great acts, the lights were incredible and all in all I had a fantastic evening and the New Cool Collective as closing act brought the house down. Photos of a few of the acts can, as usual, be found in my gallery
  • After having had the site in the current setup for a while now, I decided a little change was in order and so I've added a new background to my archive page

  • For the opening of Bianca Casasy's art exposition in Groningen Wall House she and her sister Sierra Rose, the CocoRosie duo also played a small concert there. Though the circumstances were far from ideal, I do have a few photos, which can be found in the gallery.

  • In the gallery you can now find photos of the gig that the Queens of the Stone Age played in the Oosterpoort venue in Groningen yesterday. It was phenomenally good!
  • Also the Album page and the CD-list have had a few updates with the addition of a few more vinyl albums and CD's.

  • Fantastic gig by Roisin Murphy in the Oosterpoort venue in Groningen last night. Lots and lots of costume changes. She's nuts, but absolutely lovely :-) Photo's as always in the gallery

  • Saw the Blood Red Shoes last night in Vera in Groningen. Photos of the gig and the opening act Duroc have been added to the gallery

  • Yesterday day two of the annual Ribs&Blues Festival in Raalte was held and had the best line-up ever. I missed the first three bands, but got there in time to see the following acts:
    - Ian Parker
    - Bjorn Berge
    - Ian Siegal
    - The Hoax
All in all just a truly amazing evening. Photos have been edited and uploaded to the site. You can see them in the gallery
