Summer is approaching fast and the festivals are anxiously awaiting the start of festival-season. However there are a few more concerts to play till then and last Friday Vanslag was the ‘shelter’ for a night for the Fugitives from Canada.
The band just came over from Germany and is playing a few more concerts in the Netherlands, Belgium and Germany before they’ll cross the big ocean again. They’re clearly enjoying themselves on the tour and there’s quit a bit of fun and jokes on the stage.
The Fugitives are a folk band, although terms like roots, Americana and indie folk are equally applicable as is ‘singer-songwriter’. Mainly they all have terrific voices that work very well together. At the heart of the band are Brendan McLeod and Adrian Glynn. They were here with the band back in 2014. At the time the only concert in the Netherlands.
This time there are a few more, but they kicked of the Dutch leg in Vanslag. Two gorgeous sets of songs and in both sets Brendan and Adrian take a step back to let Ali Romanow and Steve Charles take the mic.
