Mayra Andrade in De Oosterpoort
Leafing through the upcoming concerts in De Oosterpoort I saw an announcement of a Cape Verdean singer mixing Cape Verdean rhythms, Brazilian sounds and jazzy popsongs to a sensual, swinging whole. Mayra Andrade was just what this summer has been missing.
Mayra and band played in the “Kleine zaal”, with great lighting. Not sold out, but the audience was big enough to create a good, intimate atmosphere.
Mayra was sensual and teasing, with her introductions to the songs and each band-member getting his very own introduction she had the audience eating out of her hands and just as easily she got the audience to sing along to a few songs, pressing them on to sing louder and louder.
It was a great concert and I had a terrific time.
