Platosonic – Lola Kite, Moss and MakeBelieve
After three acts in the Coffee Company I thought it might be a good idea to head to Coffee Company’s neighbour and name-giver to the festival: Plato. The acts playing here were a bit louder than in the Coffee Company. Upon arrival I saw I’d missed Mi, Bubba and Me. Bit of a shame, I hope I’ll be able to see them in a while.
I was in time for Lola Kite, a great energetic little set. Keeping an eye out for their tour-schedule. If they’re around again, I’ll check ‘m out for a full gig

It was high time I saw the next band, I’ve missed their gigs a few to many time. Last year I could not even get within hearing range at Noorderslag, I missed their gig in my hometown and couldn’t make it to their gig in Vera, but now I was standing front row for Moss and even though the set was again very short, was I glad to have finally caught them. Must absolutely see a gig this year

Having this nice front row place I thought I’d better stick around till the end. There were two more acts, the final one being White Lies. Didn’t really know them but they’re quite hyped, so seeing them in a little recordstore was a nice idea. Before that, there was one more act: MakeBelieve, hailing from Groningen and clearly aimed at a younger audience then me and specifically the female kind (offering a small poster with thirst 50 EP’s sold with the gent’s ‘wearing’ in nothing more then the EP was a dead give-away). It wasn’t at all bad, just not my kind of music. Also the ‘I’m so living this music’ poses by a singer in a 20 minute set are a bit too much for my taste

And so I was ready for…. “White Lies will NOT be performing, they’ll only have a signing session“. What? Well, why didn’t they tell me sooner, I could have headed back to the Coffee Company, making room for the girls at MakeBelieve. And that was the end of my Eurosonic festival 2011. I didn’t see nearly as much as I’d have liked, but after the Plato gigs (that were pretty loud) I could feel my ears acting up a bit, so it was probably not a bad idea to skip the rest of the gigs at this festival. Will be getting back to normal gigs soon though.
